Go Get 'Em, Jim!
Jim Bunning, the Senator from Kentucky, is getting the typical knee-jerk reactionary heat from the Angry Left today, who are accusing him of NOT wanting to extend unemployment benefits via Senate Resolution, but the problem is:
It's all a bald-faced lie.
Bunning just wants to decide how the benefits will be PAID: if he has his preference, it will be from unspent "Stimulus" funds, instead of being an open-ended deal that will allow Congress to INCREASE the already exploding deficit.
That's it. But since Jim won't "play nice" the "just shut up and sign" Democrat way, the Libs are running to their favorite media outlets and blogs, and spewing bile. Gee, what else is new?
As usual, the Liberal Democrats just don't get it. On top of that, they're accusing Bunning of filibustering, even though he hasn't started a filibuster.
Here's what else the Dems won't tell you, straight from Michelle Malkin's blog:
“Temporary” Extended Unemployment Benefits?
History Tells a Different Story
The House on January 29, 2008 passed a bipartisan economic stimulus bill that did NOT include provisions to extend unemployment benefits. However, the Senate Finance Committee (SFC) has decided to add a “temporary” extension of unemployment benefits to its version of this legislation.
But does “temporary” really mean this program will operate only “through the end of 2008,” as the legislation’s proponents suggest? Looking back at the history books reveals a different story – of past “temporary” unemployment benefit programs that were repeatedly extended, operating for years and costing tens of billions of dollars more than originally expected.
Unemployment benefit program 1991-1994
Original proposed program length: 8 months
Original estimated cost $7 billion
Actual length: 29 months
Actual cost: $39 billion
Number of extensions: 5
Unemployment rate at start of program: 7 percent
U rate at end: 6.4 percent
Unemployment benefit program 2002-2004
Original proposed program length: 10 months
Original estimated cost $9 billion
Actual length: 29 months
Actual cost: $26 billion
Number of extensions: 2
Unemployment rate at start of program: 5.7 percent
U rate at end: 5.8 percent
Unemployment benefit program 2008
Original proposed program length: 11 months
Original estimated cost $10 billion
Actual length: ? months
Actual cost: ? billion
Number of extensions: ?
Unemployment rate at start of program: 5 percent
U rate at end: ?
1. SFC documents suggest the “temporary” extended unemployment benefits program would operate only through CY 2008 and cost $10 billion. But these sorts of programs never work out that way.
a. CRS reports that no “temporary” extended benefits program created since 1970 has expired without being extended.
b. Programs created in the 1980s and 1990s were extended 6 and 5 times, respectively.
c. The prospects a temporary program created today will expire at the end of 2008 as the SFC proposes – with the window of eligibility shutting two days after Christmas – is both dubious and would be without precedent in the last generation.
2. Even if it operated only as long as the “average” program created since 1980, a “temporary” program created now will be paying extended benefits in mid 2010.
a. The average duration of extended benefits programs created since 1980 is 30 months.
b. If a program started in February 2008 and paid benefits for 30 months, the final payments would be made in July 2010.
c. The total cost of such a program would likely be $30 billion or more.
3. If prior extended benefits programs began when the national unemployment rate was as low as 5.0%, these “temporary” programs would have operated for decades.
a. The U.S. unemployment rate was 5.0% or higher in every month between January 1974 and April 1997 – more than 23 years in a row.
b. Today’s 5.0% rate is below the average of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.
c. During the Clinton Administration (1993-2000), the average unemployment rate was 5.2%.
d. According to a 2007 report by the Congressional Budget Office, today’s 5.0% unemployment rate is the same as the “natural rate” CBO will use “both currently and for the 10-year projection period through 2017.” Put another way, according to CBO today’s unemployment rate is “normal” not “high.”
e. Creating an extended benefits program now will create a precedent to repeat this action every time the unemployment rate reaches this historically modest level. That will cost billions of dollars and encourage more and longer unemployment.
That's right, kids, Bunning is trying to put a stop to this endless cycle of unemployment benefits, which costs the taxpayers megatons of money and destroys American productivity.
Liberal Democrats, in the meantime, are just putting another band-aid on a bullet hole and bawling like babies because they're not interested in the Big Picture.
Besides, the Dems are just spending more of everybody else's money.
Isn't that what they do best?
I think it's time to put a stop to the Dems' favorite hobby, and get behind Jim Bunning. For once, somebody in Congress is having a moment of clarity.

The Root of California's Problems
There may be a million reasons offered for California's financial woes, but all boils down to people like this guy, who spouted this rant on Craigslist. My comments are in bold:
Stupid Cali voters
What a bunch of stupid m************ we have in this state.
Spend milions of dollars to recall Gray Davis because he didn't fix the s*** during his first term, and elected the governator.
Lessee? Better off today than yesterday?
Well, state is about to go f****** bankrupt!
Ain't got no f****** GD money!
What about that Republicans?
This is the denial you get from uneducated Wingnuts like this guy. I really think he has not a clue about how California State government operates. He’s also forgotten or just plain ignored the fact that Liberal Democrats hold a 2/3 majority at all levels of California Gub-Mint.
How about we spend another couple million to recall your candidate for governor now, using money we don't have of course.
What a bunch of dumb m************. Damn!!
Bought that Republican s***, and their choice didn't do no better, just made it f****** worse. A*******!
I'd say you deserve it, but all of us are suffering, so F*** you!
We need to drive the whole lot of you stupid bastards into the OC and then into the ocean.
F*** hassling the latino's. At least they work. I say we get get rid of the f****** Republicans and all of their GD lies once and for f****** all!
Only a knucklehead would entertain the idea taking one of the largest generators of tax revenue in the State of California and "driving it into the ocean".
This is such a wonderful example of the IDIOCY that plagues California. The sad fact is, this poor guy isn’t even smart enough to realize that the people HE supports in their current elected positions are the ones spending California into oblivion. And when Arnold Schwarzeneggar tried to put measures into place to stop the kind of financial bleeding that is killing California RIGHT NOW, it was voters like this clown who told Schwarzeneggar to buzz off.
And now this guy is on Craigslist bawling about Republicans. This little baby needs to sit in his dirty diapers and think about where the mess REALLY came from.
Want to know where California's problems begin? It's with people like this, who rubber-stamp EVERYTHING the Democrats do by blindly voting for them.

Hasta La Vista, White Guilt
Look at my fellow conservatives! There they go, glumly shuffling along, depressed by the election aftermath. Not me. I'm virtually euphoric. Don't get me wrong. I'm not thrilled with America 's flirtation with neo socialism. But there's a massive silver lining in those magical clouds that lofted Barak Obama to the Presidency. For today, without a shred of intellectually legitimate opposition, I can loudly proclaim to America : The Era of White Guilt is over.

Liberal Democrats Have NO Energy Policy
That's right... Democrats have NO long-term energy policy, even though they keep repeating the same environmentally correct buzz-phrases to please their Enivronmentalist Masters.
There's nothing more comically aggravating than watching as Democrats on C-Span try and defend their Party Line on energy independence.
Caveat Emptor: No matter how many high-falootin' words all your Democratic representatives spew, like "investing in new green technologies" and "creating jobs in the emerging green sector", remember, they're just words. Notice how NONE of these people can describe any of those "new" technologies, or just what is a "green sector".
Another justification the Liberal Democrats love to toss out is "America's petroleum greed", because the United States, which makes up about 6% of the world's population, consumes about 25% of the world's crude oil. So what? News flash! We BUY that crude, remember? I guess it's "not fair" that the U.S. is one of the most prosperous and technologically advanced countries on earth.
But WE REG'LAR FOLKS are greedy, because we choose to drive to work instead of standing for 2 hours on on stinky, lumbering, overcrowded buses; we live in nice dwellings instead of damp caves; and we enjoy the privileged lifestyle that comes with being part of a successful capitalist economy vs. the squalor of a "socially just" collectivist beehive.
Even sadder: the Democrat Elitists, who CLAIM to be the real Party of the People, aren't going to be listening to the people any time soon, even though several Gallup Polls have come out, showing some not-so-surprising results about what Average Joe thinks should be done concerning America's Energy Crisis:
http://www.gallup.com/poll/107542/Majority-Americans-Support-Price-Controls-Gas.aspx
http://www.gallup.com/poll/22171/Majority-Americans-Support-Use-Nuclear-Energy.aspx
What these 2 polls tell us is that American attitudes are changing towards increased domestic oil exploration and the use of nucelar reactors to generate power. More than half of the respondents to both polls favor both. But do Democrats care, even though they claim to speak for "the mainstream"? Nope! You'll find Liberal Democrat representatives at the local, state, and Federal level still chanting their environmentalist mantras: "We need to get away from fossil-based and radioactive fuels and invest in "renewable energy resources."
Wonderful. Just answer the People this question, O Democrat Environmentalist: Since most American goods are transported by rail and truck, just what "renewable resource" do you have in mind for powering a 220 ton locomotive or a 50,000 pound 18-wheeler? Corn? Soybeans? The world's largest hydrogen fuel cell?
And just what do Democrats have in mind for all those power plants that run on natural gas? "Well, we need to explore the use of windmills and solar power." Awesome! There's nothing like a repeat of this favorite liberal slogan.
Let's take a reality break here. To match the 1.1 gigawatt generating capacity of just 1 of Diablo Canyon's nuclear reactors, it will take over 660 windmill turbines or over 30,000 solar panels, not taking into account the facts that windmills don't work real well in calm weather, or that solar panels work lousy at night time.
Diablo canyon supplies power to the residents of San Luis Obispo County. To meet the needs of the residents of Metropolitan Los Angeles, you'll need at least 3 times Diablo Canyon's full capacity, which is 2.2 gigawatts. Can you imagine the amount of real estate required by 3900 wind turbines? And the number of solar panels required to produce that amount of wattage would cover most of the state of Delaware.
But all the Democrats and their liberal environmental puppetmasters keep doing is chanting their "use less" and "renewable resources" mantras without any thought of the actual logistics involved. Sort of like the Aesop's fable about the mice that wanted to put a warning bell on the collar of the cat. The idea looks great... on paper. But has anybody thought about what happens when you actually try and make it work?
Try mentioning that to the Democrats and their liberal supporters.
Don't be surprised if all you get is dead silence, right before the name-calling begins.

"Live Earth" Hypocrisy
What a joke.
"Live Earth", AlBore's worldwide concert extravaganza, will cause an enormous amount of pollution to "create awareness" about the danger of causing pollution.
Oh boy! A whole bunch of spoiled musicians, who live in palaces all over the world, are going to teach the rest of us proles how to live better lives, all based on media hype generated from junk science. There's nothing like people who fly everywhere in private jets, bragging about how they're doing their part to "fight global warming" by monitoring their toilet paper use and paying others to run their air conditioners ten minutes a day less by dealing in "Carbon Credits".
And good ol' Al, who lives like a king in a huge, energy-hungry house in Tennessee, will have his chubby mug on tube all weekend... what a way to kick off another Presidential bid.
And in the end, whatever money is made from this event will line the pockets of the promoters, period. It's just another way to get you to give your money to people who "care". And, while the entertainers who are part of this show will "feel good" about having "done something", the fact remains that this public spectacle will do absolutely NOTHING to change the lives of the public at large. It's all smoke.
Personally, I think this event WON'T make the money the promoters are counting on. In fact, I think this thing will lose a TON of money. But to the Failure-Is-Really-Success Liberals, it will counted as huge victory in the War On Global Warming. Ta-da!
I'll tell you what: if you want to make a real difference in the lives of human beings, take all that money you'd blow on 'Live Earth' memorabilia or the upcoming concert DVD, and donate it to the Salvation Army. At least they can show you demonstrable results of the good work thet're doing

You're NOT paranoid, O Progressive One!
There really IS a NeoCon conspiracy. Progressives had been working tirelessly for 80 years to make the United States a country of true social justice, where there is government-mandated equality for all. We NeoCons got tired of it, so we rigged the last two Presidential elections to make sure Republicans became the ruling majority in this country. We will put a stop to your idea of "progress" in America, and here's why:
1. We want to get rich on the labors of the poor. Inequality and greed are good. After all, we need people to look down on. Being rich isn't fun if EVERYBODY is wealthy. And being poor stinks.
2. Evironmental conservation is a stumbling block to our pleasure. Who cares if civilization dies choking on carbon monoxide, while wading in a sea of consumer garbage? As long as we can get faster cars and bigger plasma TV's, Mother Earth can take a flying leap through a rolling doughnut.
3. Religious and racial intolerance have existed forever, and we think it's pointless to fight it. Besides, cops and lawyers need something to do. We'll make sure there's plenty of work for both.
4. You need religion. We think it's time you handed your kids over to us, so we can force them to memorize Bible verses in public schools. Then their tiny brains will be irreversibly warped by learning radical concepts like "Love your neighbor as yourself".
5. Women need to leave the workplace and head back to the house. On top of that, abortion needs to be abolished so that we can populate the Earth with as many new little NeoCons as possible. Women are for doing laundry, making dinner and having babies, period. We will re-establish that.
6. We will make it law that ALL citizens, regardless of their background, can carry weapons. Also, we will reward good gun-toting citizens a 1000.00 bounty for each Progressive they bring to the authorities, dead or alive.
7. Homosexuals , Lesbians and Transsexuals will be sent to a penal colony, where they will learn gender-appopriate behavior and be re-introduced into society.
Although this seems ludicrous, these are the reasons Progressives fear and hate us. And since Progressives are so much smarter than us "NeoCon Retards", they must be right. Be afraid. Be very very afraid.
